Greetings,
My husband and I have just recently decided that giving adoption a chance is a possibility for us. However neither one of us has any idea about the where to's, how to's and so forth when it comes to approaching the issue of carrying out an adoption.
I am looking for some sort of idea about how to start the process... who do we talk to locally, what are reputable agencies and how does one determine that, what can we expect in a home study... that kind of stuff. Any and all advice is welcome.
We have been married 10 years, own our own home, have one child who is 7, homeschool, and are active in a number of hobbies including fishing, historical reenactment, hiking, and more.

Thank you in advance,
In Peace,
ME.

My wife and I are in the final stages of having a child placed with us. We are doing a Foster/Adopt program with the County of Riveside, our home. The child will be placed with us as a Foster child until all of the parental rights are severed and then it will be adopted by us. Call your local Child protection agency, they'll have all the information on different types of adoptions available . I'll keep everyone informed on how things are going.

    This site: www.openadopt.org/

gives a lot of information at it. Also you can just call the agency to find out more on what they are all about. They are really friendly people who are ready to answer your questions. I'm very happy with my open adoption and hope other people choose that path as well. It was the best path for me. I dont know if it's the best path for you or not, but I'd highly highly recommend at the very least checking it out. Also if your interested in a different path I'm pretty sure they can direct you as to which direction you'd like to go. Hope they can help you.

    namaste,
    Melinda
