It looks like my husband and I are going to do the classes for foster parent certification in October and November. We are excited and scared! We expect to be able to complete the paperwork and home visit shortly after and be ready for some kids by next year. We are going through an agency that contracts with Alameda County called A Better Way.

Sun, May 20, 2007 - 6:16 PMCongratulations! I'm Annie - mom to Jake, 7, and Emma, 4. Both were adopted from foster care as infants. It took only 9 months from the day we started classes & turned in our paperwork until Jake was in our home - just the same as a pregnancy! -

Wed, May 23, 2007 - 8:33 AMWe are in Shasta County. We went entirely through the county, but right after we adopted Emme, they switched so that adoptions are handled through the Lilliput agency. It was so exciting...I actually loved all the classes. I'm still friends with several people I met there.
